Risks of Eyelid Surgery

Dr. Howard Bellin recommends that all patients fully understand belpharoplasty before considering the procedure. Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure to remove excess fat, skin or muscle from the upper or lower eyelids.  It is commonly chosen by people to reduce baggy eyes or drooping eyelid (ptosis).

According to Dr. Howard Bellin, there are many factors that alter your eyelids. One of the primary causes is the aging process. Other reasons include: too much sun exposure, heredity, and too much or too little body fluid can cause bags and wrinkles around the eyes.
A blepharoplasty is a common procedure used to remove excess skin, herniated fat, and atrophied muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. In some cases, excess fat and skin can block a person’s field of vision. It is strongly recommend that if your field of vision is affected by excessive fat and skin that you should seek treatment as soon as possible. (more…)
